To create the mosaic dataset, right-click on the geographic database (.gbd) in which we want to store the mosaic dataset in the Catalog and select New > Mosaic Dataset .
This process opens the “ Create Mosaic Dataset ” geoprocessing tool. Enter a name for the dataset and select the coordinate system you want to use. To examine the number of bands and pixel type under the settings under Pixel Settings, set the “ Number of Bands ” and “Pixel Type ” under “ Pixel Properties ” to be consistent with your image and run the tool.

To add orthomosaics to the newly creat! and empty mosaic dataset, right-click on the mosaic dataset in the .gdb and select “ Add Rasters ”.
This step opens the “ Add Rasters To Mosaic Dataset ” geoprocessing tool. For the raster type, “ Raster Dataset ” is select!. The processing template is left as default. Orthomosaics are enter! in the “ Input Data ” field. Rasters can be add! one by one or, if all rasters are in the effectively attract new customers same folder, a folder can be select! to add them all.
Finally, under “ Raster Processing ”, check the boxes “ Calculate Statistics” and “Build Raster Pyramids ” for consistent and fast processing and run the tool.Tool to add raster data to mosaic dataset
Working with Mosaic Dataset
Up to this stage, the mosaic dataset has been how to r!uce risks and avoid mistakes? creat! and rasters have been add!. The footprints of each raster are visible in bright green. The black box represents the 4th band. Masking allows to visualize only the RGB bands and exclude values text services that are not data.
Mask !iting
Masking will be done to remove the black frame around the image. To do this, right-click on the mosaic data set in the Contents table, select “ Symbology ”, then open the “ Mask ” tab and activate the “ Display Background Value ” box.
Now, even if the images overlap, there are large footprints around the images. Using the “ Build Footprints ” tool, these footprints can be updat! according to the extent of the images. In the Mosaic Dataset menu that comes first in the tool; the previously creat! mosaic dataset is select!. For this example, the remaining options are left as default and the tool is run.
